and I love oreos

It all started somewhere

Well Let me say that I promise you, LDRs do take a lot of work, so do not ever feel like you are doing to much, because if it is making your partner smile, regardless of whether or not you see it, then you are doing something right.
As I mentioned before, I had no idea what I was getting myself into and neither did my guy, but we both knew we would have been crazy not to try. I mean what did we really have to lose. So I will let you in on how we met and then I will give you a few of my secrets as to why my relationship has been so successful so far.

I was living in Nashville Tennessee, going to college and just enjoying life.  I was out one night  with a few friends at our local bar, and after closing time we were outside debating what the next step in our night was. I was standing there when I was approached by this tall, skinny, male with curly hair, blue eyes and let me add one of them was a black eye. He was extremely intoxicated but still managed to catch my eye with his big smile and of course his charming Irish accent. He went on to introduce himself and explain how it was his first night in America. Then while he was leaving he tried to give me a phone number but had not gotten a phone yet. He managed to talk his boss that was with him to give me his number so that I could reach him through his boss. Hesitantly his  boss gave me the number and off they went. Well I never called, he was drunk and it wasn't even his phone Id be calling. So I put it out of my mind and went on with my week. I wont lie, I spoke of it a few times. I was a bit flattered an Irishman was attempting to chat me up, but like always what happens at bars usually always ends that night.

The next weekend a few friends of mine were having a big housewarming party and my best friend and I agreed to go. We were both not really feeling it, we almost blew it off completely, but we decided we would stop by for an hour or so to make an appearance. So we bought our beer and headed that way. I was standing up against a wall talking to people when two guys walked through the front door, they both looked so familiar but only one of them caught my eye. Then it hit me, it was the Irish guy I had met a week ago at the bar. What were the odds they would know my friends as well. I approached him, this time he didn't have the black eye, and his eyes were bluer than ever. I said hi and asked if he remembered me and with a really sorry face he said no. I reminded him that I met him is first night, then his fuzzy memory must have opened some door because he followed with "oh yeah the girl from red door, by the way you never called".  So we went on to chat for a little while. I didn't want to crowd him all night so I kept my distance at times. He really was like the shiny new toy in the classroom, most people wanted his attention. I am not sure what caught his attention with me though, maybe my love for Guinness or probably my love for football, even though I am a Chelsea fan. Before he left I caught him attempting to speak Spanish and while I know now he was trying to impress me by saying this, he told me he spoke it(which he really doesnt) and so I threw out there that I make awesome Mexican food. He suggested I come cook for him, gave me his new number and said we would set something up for the weekend.
Look at me getting a date with the new hot Irish guy in town :)

That is where, I like to say the fairytale, all started. I could continue but the story would go on forever. We had a few dates and as the weeks went on we saw each other more frequently, to almost every day. He kissed me on our third date, after he explained to me that the Irish like to court the ones they are interested in first, and if by the 3rd of 4th date they have not made a move than they have decided they are not interested. Man the pressure I felt that night, given it was our third date. But it happened and the wait was very much worth it. We went through a lot in our small amount of time together. He said our first date that he didn't believe in love and then one of our last weekends together he confessed he was in love with me. I was in heaven those 2 1/2 months. When it came to drop him off at the airport I had no idea if it would last or when I would see him again, but I knew I loved him and he loved me and if we both had that, then it was enough to give us reason to try.

Love knows no distance. True love waits. Love never fails.

We can go over all the quotes, but some days they don't make things better, but they are all true. Remember why you fell in love and hold on to that. It can take a lifetime to find true love, do not take it for granted. Distance is only temporary.

Missing Him

This is everyday Life for LDRs

Keep your head up

Well when it comes to long distance relationships, you have to treat them like a fragile delicate flower, needing certain things only nature can offer them. I will start by saying that attempting to do long distance is not an easy process. It never gets easier over time either, in fact in most cases I would say it only gets harder the longer you are forced to be away. The number on thing to keep in mind is that the future will hold such a promising prize, the prize of eventually being with your partner again.
When attempting to start my long distance relationship, I had no idea what I was in for and neither did he. I was scared to death of what was to come and the only thing I could do was dive in and give it everything I had.
An important part of being in a long distance relationship is in order to make it work you have to be willing to open your WHOLE heart to them. You have to let them inhabit every inch of it, making a nest right in the middle. I know this is hard for most of us to do. Easier said than done right? I know this. I promise you though that the love that comes from doing this will be worth it in the end.
I was asked so many times how I managed to do it and what was my secret. I had people tell me they felt sorry for me and did not envy my relationship. I have also had people tell me how strong I was.
Let me make one thing clear, it was not and is not easy being strong and there is no secret behind it. In fact I have found it to be a day by day process. You will never know when you will wake up feeling hurt, sad, jealous, bitter and even feel like giving up. I have cried myself to sleep many nights and I have made the shameful call to my guy apologizing for my jealousy and mistrust.
Long distance takes something I think every person is capable of, you just have to believe in yourself and believe in love.
Keep your head up, everything works out in the end.

NashvilleLove

We all have a love story that starts somewhere. Mine was Nashville, Tennessee

Hello hopeless Romantics

I am starting this blog to give hope to those who are attempting to do long distance or are currently doing long distance and need a pick me up. It is not easy trying to stretch love across the pond, across the country or even simply across the state. It is going to be hard and at times you are going to feel like its not worth doing but all I can say to you is on those days when you feel all hope is gone, find some new inspiration.  Find ways of reminding yourself of why you started this relationship in the first place. Listen to a song, or shuffle through photos, or you could start the new frenzy that is taking over, Pinterest. I have a board dedicated to just my significant other and when I am feeling down I browse through the quotes and photos to find that calming feeling and the love that I have for him.

All I can say to you is that do not let anyone tell you that it is not worth it or it wont work, because your love story is different and unique and if you love someone enough to even attempt long distance than there is enough love there to make it last.

Time comes and goes, but true love lasts a lifetime.
